Is it possible to migrate from a Comet-Hosted to a Self-Hosted version of Comet Server?

Question

Is it possible to migrate from a Comet-Hosted to a Self-Hosted version of Comet Server?

Answer

While migrating from Self-Hosted to Comet-Hosted is straightforward, migrating from Comet-Hosted to Self-Hosted currently lacks automatic replication tools because tenant-level migration features are not supported.

Note: We recommend staring fresh on the new Self-Hosted server. This avoids configuration errors and profile corruption.

To keep existing configurations, transfer user profiles manually:

  1. On the Self-Hosted server, create each user with the same username as on the Comet-Hosted server.
  2. On both servers, sign in as admin and enable Advanced Options from the admin drop-down menu (top right).

  3. On each server, open the user and select Actions > Edit raw profile.
  4. Copy the profile contents from the Comet-Hosted server to the Self-Hosted server, and delete the line "OrganizationID": "XYZ",.
  5. Save the profile.
  6. Log a device in to the user on the new server and run a backup to confirm it works.
  7. Repeat for each user.
