Comet Backup agent installation fails on Linux: ERR_TOTP_REQUIRED (449)

Symptoms

• When installing the Comet Backup agent on a Linux VM using an account that has TOTP (two-factor authentication) enabled, the install fails with the error:

  CONFIG_TEXT: ERR_TOTP_REQUIRED (449)

• The installer does not prompt for a TOTP code.

Cause

This is a product bug with ID COMET-60300. It has been fixed in 26.8.7 Voyager and 26.10.0 Epimetheus.

Resolution

Upgrade your Comet Management Console and backup agents to receive the fix.
