Installation of Comet Backup fails on DSM 7: Unexpected HTTP 403 accessing /healthcheck-localroot

Symptoms

An error popup appears during the configuration phase of a fresh install of the Synology backup agent:

Failed to install the package.
Unexpected HTTP 403 accessing /healthcheck-localroot: You must be a local administrator of the PC to use this functionality. ERROR: Failed to log in using the given credentials.

Cause

This is a known bug with ID COMET-5878 in Comet Backup where the installer is checking for root permissions, which is not possible on Synology DSM 7.

This bug has already been fixed in Voyager 26.5.2 and Phoebe 26.4.5 releases.

Resolution

Upgrade your Comet Management Console to Voyager 26.5.2 / Phoebe 26.4.5 or newer, and download the updated SPK installer for Synology DSM 7:
